Throughout the month of March, GREGE and LPO teams mobilized to carry out characterization operations on population sectors

These census campaigns resulted in the capture of five mink, including four new individuals

The mobilization of LIFE VISON teams was maximal throughout the month of March to deploy large-scale trap cages in order to identify minks in the population nuclei detected in 2018.

Three new male minks were caught on the marshes north of Rochefort. They were captured several times, with distances between capture points of up to 4.4 km between two marshes.

On the Charente upstream of Angoulême, a new male was captured, and a male marked in November 2018, named Badu, was recaptured several times. His various points of contact show that he has visited at least since his first capture about 18.5 linear km along the Charente between Genac and Marsac.

The month of March marks the end of the rutting period, during which the males are particularly mobile in search of females, thus increasing their probability of encountering a cage.
