The automatic chip readers deployed in several sectors make it possible to detect marked mink, … without their knowledge.

The passage of a marked mink was recorded for the first time by an automatic chip reader

An automatic chip reader, powered by a photovoltaic panel, was set up on an experimental basis on the LPO plots of the Fouras marshes in March 2019.

The passage of one of the mink marked in March 2019 was thus recorded on May 14, 2019, confirming that this type of material allows indirect monitoring of microchipped individuals.

This indirect point of contact, two months after the last capture, is located less than 350 m from the latter.

Two automatic readers have since been redeployed on this marsh, hoping to regularly detect all of the microchipped individuals.
